Review Cleaner for Letterboxd is a browser extension that helps users collapse noisy Letterboxd reviews and open optional movie-search shortcuts on NegativeSearch.

Data Collection

Review Cleaner does not collect, sell, transmit, or share personal information.

The extension reads review text that is already visible on Letterboxd pages in your browser so it can apply your local filtering settings and show relevant menu actions. This processing happens locally in your browser.

Data Stored Locally

Review Cleaner uses Chrome extension storage to save your preferences, including:

• whether the extension is enabled
• review length thresholds
• emoji threshold
• blocked words
• blocked phrases
• muted reviewers
• filtering toggles

These settings are stored by Chrome for the extension. They are not sent to the developer by the extension.

NegativeSearch Links

Some review menus may include links to NegativeSearch, such as searches for movies without a detected topic. When you click one of these links, a new tab opens on negativesearch.com with a single selected filter in the URL. Review Cleaner does not send the review text to NegativeSearch.

Remote Code

Review Cleaner does not execute remotely hosted code. All extension code is packaged with the extension.

Permissions

Review Cleaner requests access to Letterboxd pages so it can add review controls and collapse matching reviews. It requests storage permission so it can save your extension settings.
